Hot liquids are better than cold water since it may increase blood flow to the skin while relaxing cramped muscles.

Foods to Avoid

Some foods that should be avoided during menstruation are fatty foods such as hamburger and French fries, alcoholic beverages and carbonated drinks since these kind of foods can cause bloating.

You must also reduce intake of caffeine and tea during menstruation, instead, take a soothing ginger drinks or mint tea or hot lemon drink.

Hot Treatment

A hot heating pad can be applied to the abdomen and lower back to relieve pain caused by menstruation. Taking a hot bath or using a hot towel can also relieve symptoms of menstruation.
